What is Tectan®?
Tectan® is made from the residues of the beverage carton industry, consisting largely of paper. These residues (raw materials) are shredded, dried, and processed into granules in a specially developed process. Depending on the application, the polyethylene already present, which seals the carton, is appropriately supplemented. The resulting material, Tectan®, is primarily processed into products such as core plugs or edge protectors using the injection moulding process.
Material
To manufacture the material Tectan®, only paper and polyolefins such as Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), and Polypropylene (PP) are used. Depending on the requirement, these are mixed according to a recipe tailored to the product, where the paper fibre acts as a stabilizer and increases the stiffness of the plastic matrix. Due to the high content of paper fibres and a product-optimized process, Tectan® achieves properties that can only be achieved with pure plastic products through significant design efforts.
Production
The production of products made from Tectan® is carried out in our plant on modern high-performance machines, which guarantee high process reliability. The resulting high quality is reflected in customer loyalty that has lasted for many years.
Environment
By incorporating paper fibres (secondary materials) that come 100% from FSC-certified cultivation, fossil resources such as petroleum are saved and replaced by renewable ones. The production of products from Tectan® must not result in any ecologically adverse effects on air, land, and water.
Tectan® products are suitable for multiple uses, can be 100% recycled, and used in the production of new Tectan® products.
